The Los Angeles Lakers have signed LeBron James to a four-year deal, as they have landed the biggest prize in free agency.

Coming into the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were poised to be big players in free agency. After making a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers prior to the NBA Trade Deadline, the Lakers set themselves up nicely to be able to pursue two max free agents.

Since taking over, Magic Johnson has made it a goal to create cap space in order to bring in star players. In his first offseason with the opportunity too, he was able to deliver by signing LeBron James.

The Lakers will now instantly become a playoff team with James on the court, as they are getting arguably the best player in the league today. James leaving his hometown in Cleveland was likely a tough choice to make, but he certainly seems comfortable in California with his family.

James is coming off of one of his best seasons yet. Despite not having a lot to work with on the Cavaliers this season, James was able to help lead the team to another NBA Finals. However, James didn’t have the supporting cast necessary to take down the Golden State Warriors.

While the Lakers do have a promising young core, they don’t have any All-Stars currently on the roster. There were a lot of reports that indicated that James wouldn’t want to be the first person to sign with the Lakers, but that has turned out not to be the case.

Now, the Lakers will still have the ability to add some pieces to surround James. In addition to still having some cap space, the team will also be expecting their young core to take a step forward. Having an experienced star like James on the roster will certainly help the young players get better.
