Recent Lakers rumors are that the team has signed Travis Wear to their final two-way contract for next season.

Despite free agency dying down, recent Lakers rumors are that the team has signed Travis Wear to a two-way contract for next season. The Lakers had both of their two-way contracts for next season used up already, but they recently waived Malik Newman, which gave them one to use again.

Alex Caruso is once again on a two-way contract for next season, as he has been impressive for the Lakers in the G-League, NBA, and the Summer League. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Travis Wear will be getting the second two-way contract that the Lakers have to give.

Wear played 17 games for the Lakers last season, and was able to average 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. When on the court, Wear is mostly a shooter, as he shot 36.2 percent from beyond the arc last season.

As expected, Wear played mostly at the end of the season for the Lakers, but he had a few nice games where he was able to score in double-figures. When the Lakers signed LeBron James, many believe that the Lakers were going to try and surround him with shooters. That really hasn’t been the case, but Wear is certainly capable of spacing the floor.

However, since Wear is on a two-way contract and the Lakers have a pretty solid looking roster right now, he likely won’t see a ton of minutes this season. With Wear signing, the Lakers now have 20 players under contract for training camp, which is the maximum.

After a strong season with the South Bay Lakers, Wear will look to improve this season and hopefully contribute some more at the NBA level. The two-way contract has been very beneficial for many players in the G-League and NBA. Hopefully, it will help Wear continue to improve as a player.
