Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma recently commented about LeBron James being a perfect fit for the team.
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to land the biggest prize in free agency when they signed LeBron James this summer. As arguably the best player in basketball, James instantly makes the Lakers a playoff team in the Western Conference, and might be able to help lead them even further next season.
While there were a lot of positives about the Lakers that appealed to James, it was surprising to see him commit without another All-Star on the team. Even though the Lakers don’t have an All-Star, they do have one of the best young cores in the NBA. For James, playing with younger players will likely be an adjustment from what he’s been used to, but it could be a good thing for him.
One of the young talents on the Lakers, Kyle Kuzma, recently commented about how he thought LeBron James would fit in with the young core of the Lakers. Here’s what he had to say in an interview before the ESPY’s with text from LakersNation.com.
"“I think it’s a perfect fit. We’re a group of hungry, young guys. For us, we’re looking at it like, LeBron has never played with guys of our hungriness and being young. It’s going to be exciting to learn from him and everything. … We’re out there, young, hungry, trying to make a name for ourselves and really trying to win. It’s going to be a great marriage, for sure.”"
As the best player in the world, adding James to the roster is certainly a good fit. Since the Lakers core is rather young, getting to learn and practice every day with one of the greatest of all-time is only going to make them better.
For players like Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and Kyle Kuzma, getting to watch and learn from James first-hand is going to be huge for their development. Last season, the Lakers did falter a bit late in games when the squad was healthy. Now that they have James, those late-game situations and learning how to win become much easier.
While the Lakers might not be ready to contend for a title just yet, having LeBron on the team should really speed up the development of the young core. By the end of the season and come playoff time, the Lakers could be a team that could cause some problems in the Western Conference.
