Recent Lakers rumors are that the team will be facing the Golden State Warriors on Christmas this coming season.

As we get ready for the official release of the 2018-19 season schedule, recent Lakers rumors are that the team will be playing on Christmas Day this season.

Due to the signing of LeBron James in addition to the Lakers being one of the most historic franchises in the NBA, Los Angeles is going to be playing a lot of nationally televised games this coming season.

For the NBA, Christmas Day is one of the biggest of the year. After everyone is done opening their presents, basketball starts at noon on the East coast and goes until after midnight with a full slate of games generally.

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Lakers will be one of the teams playing on Christmas this year.

The matchup between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors will surely be a fun one to watch. Going back to his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, James and the Warriors have been rivals.

For four straight seasons, James has met the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Unfortunately for James, the Warriors have bested him three out of four times. While we don’t know how the whole Lakers schedule looks, this matchup with the Warriors could be the first time we see James against the defending champions in a Lakers uniform.

As the Lakers look to grow and hopefully dethrone the Warriors, games against them in the regular season will have some extra meaning. James will surely be putting an extra emphasis on these games for his young teammates, as they will have to learn how to beat teams like the Warriors.

In addition to the Lakers against the Warriors, we will also see a great matchup in the Eastern Conference, as the Philadelphia 76ers will be facing the Boston Celtics. The NBA does a good job putting some of their top teams on display for Christmas, and the Lakers certainly deserve to be playing on the big day this year.
