With the offseason being a bit quiet now for the Los Angeles Lakers, recent Lakers rumors are that Kawhi Leonard is still primarily interested in signing with Los Angeles.

Even though there isn’t much going on in the world of basketball right now, recent Lakers rumors are already about what might happen next offseason. In the NBA, everyone is always looking ahead to the offseason, as it is arguably the most entertaining time of the year for many fans.

For the Lakers, this offseason was filled with excitement, as the team was able to turn their cap space in a star in LeBron James. While many thought and hoped that the Lakers would land two All-Stars, getting James was certainly a big prize.

Now that the Lakers have James, they will be aiming to snap their playoff drought in the 2018-19 season. The Lakers did a nice job filling out their roster with talent, but it is important to note that James was the only player to receive a contract for more than one year.

Recently, Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned that 2019 free agent to be, Kawhi Leonard is still interested in signing with Los Angeles.

"Leonard is primarily interested in signing with the Lakers or Clippers in July, league sources tell ESPN."

Leonard was traded by the San Antonio Spurs to the Toronto Raptors this offseason, after it became clear that he didn’t want to be in San Antonio anymore. While the Raptors will likely do all they can to sign Leonard, his contract is up at the end of the season.

Since Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka took over, they have done a great job keeping cap flexibility for the Lakers. This offseason was no different for the Lakers, as Rajon Rondo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Michael Beasley, JaVale McGee, and Lance Stephenson all signed one-year deals.

Next offseason, the Lakers will once again have cap space and now they will have a superstar in LeBron to help them add another superstar. With Leonard’s interest in Los Angeles and the Lakers being interested in him, he will likely be priority number one next offseason.
