2. Isaiah Thomas

Only months before being acquired by the Lakers, Thomas finished top 5 in MVP voting, after leading the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals. He even balled out for his team right after losing his sister in a tragic car accident.

Due to a hip injury, his market value has dropped drastically, and the Lakers could’ve brought him back on a cheap deal. He signed a one-year, prove it deal with the Denver Nuggets instead.

I am happy about the Rajon Rondo signing, but the other ex-Celtic played well after being traded to the Lakers last season. He could become a threat to go off for 30 points per game again if his surgery was successful.

Re-signing Isaiah would’ve been low-risk, high reward transaction. He also grew up a Lakers fan, and was just fun to watch. After playing in his first game as a Laker, he said he “felt like he got his superpowers back”.
