The NBA rookie class recently voted on who their favorite player in the league is. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers received the most votes.
This summer, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to change the landscape of the NBA by signing LeBron James. For the first time in his career, James will be playing in the Western Conference, as he leaves the East up for grabs next season.
For the last eight years, James has been in the NBA Finals coming out of the East, but he will now be embarking on a new challenge with the Lakers. As arguably the best player in the NBA, James has a ton of fans.
Considering what James is able to do both on and off the court, he has become one of the more likable sports figures in recent years. Recently, NBA.com polled 36 of the rookies coming into the NBA about various things. One of which was who their favorite player was. In the voting, James came in first by a pretty wide margin, receiving 29 percent of the vote.
With many of these players grew up watching James, it is pretty easy to understand why he received so many of the votes. Since many are in the early 20s, they have grown up watching James dominate with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
Coming in a tie for second was Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors. Both of them each received nine percent of the vote, as their recent success has turned them both into very popular players.
For James, being liked by the rookies is likely a strange feeling, as he will be competing against more and more players that have grown up idolizing him. As he gets ready for this next chapter of his career, he will be trying to make sure that none of these rookies slow him down in his chase for a ring in Los Angeles.
