The Los Angeles Lakers expect to make a major improvement as a team this season because of their additions in free agency. As a result, they could even have some players in the conversation for the biggest NBA awards at the end of the season.

The Los Angeles Lakers lofty goal for this season is obviously to win the title, but along with team success, individual awards usually follow as well. With the competition in the Western Conference, Lakers players could take home some hardware if the team achieves their goals.

The NBA’s postseason awards are typically reserved for players who have made the biggest impact on winning teams throughout the year, and because the Lakers have been one of the worst teams in the league the past five seasons, it has been quite some time since anyone on the roster has sniffed a postseason award.

That could easily change this season because they added LeBron James, who has won five big NBA awards throughout his career. He brought home Rookie of the Year honors in 2004, and he has won the NBA Most Valuable Player award four times.

Other members of the Lakers roster could also be in the hunt for some of the notable league awards as well, specifically the young core if they can make a dramatic improvement individually this season.

However, most of these predictions could be considered bold because the Lakers have yet to prove anything on the court with this new roster. These are the most likely candidates from the Lakers to take home each major individual NBA award.
