Recent Lakers rumors are that the team has expressed an interest in veteran guard, Jamal Crawford.

With the start of training camp getting closer for the Los Angeles Lakers, recent Lakers rumors are that the team is interested in Jamal Crawford.

It has been a very busy offseason for the Lakers after the addition of LeBron James. Since then, they have been adding a lot of veterans on one-year deals, as the preserve cap space for next summer. With James being a great player, veterans have been willing to take less to come to play with him over the course of his career.

One of the top veterans that is still a free agent is Jamal Crawford. Despite being almost 40-years-old, Crawford is still able to light it up off the bench, as he can provide a team with instant offense.

Recently Marc Spears talked about the teams that are interested in Crawford on ESPN’s The Jump. Here’s what he had to say with text via Miguel Gargaritano of ClutchPoints.

"“He said ‘Nothing yet,’ but he’s had some interest from the Lakers, had some interest from the Sixers. Had some from Golden State although I don’t think the Golden State thing will be there with Patrick McCaw coming back”"

With the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, Crawford averaged 10.3 points per game off the bench on 41.5 percent shooting from the floor. One thing that Crawford can provide the Lakers is another threat from beyond the arc.

James has had a lot of success on the court with three-point shooters, and that is something that this Lakers team does lack a bit. While it doesn’t seem like there is anything imminent for Crawford, he will likely be looking to play with a contender this coming season.

As a veteran that can provide a spark off the bench with his scoring and ability to shoot the ball, Crawford would be a nice fit for the Lakers. Despite having a very nice career, Crawford has never won an NBA Title. With his career likely coming to an end soon, that could be his main priority when he chooses a team.
