Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James named one of the best creators in NBA
By Nick Ziegler
Bleacher Report recently named the best creators at each position. At power forward, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers took the honors.
The signing of LeBron James for the Los Angeles Lakers has instantly made them a much better team compared to last season. With a solid young core, the Lakers needed to add a star into the mix to lead them, and that is exactly what James is capable of.
Last season, James was able to have one of the best of his career at 33-years-old. James was able to play in all 82 games, which is a remarkable achievement now considering how often stars rest. With the Cavaliers, James averaged 27.5 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Recently, Bleacher Report named the best creators at each position on the court. At power forward, they chose James, and rightfully so.
Due to his unique size and strength James is able to basically be a walking mismatch against whoever guards him. While some players have the length, they may not have the speed and strength.
As a player with an extremely high basketball IQ, James realizes what the defense is giving him and he makes the right play. Whether it is attacking himself or making a pass to an open teammate, James very rarely makes the wrong call. While he has been criticized for not being as aggressive offensively as he should be, James really has the mind of a point guard and is an excellent creator for his teammates.
Over the past few seasons, James has been playing a lot more power forward than small forward, but that could change with the Lakers. With lineups going smaller and smaller, the Lakers have not ruled out playing James at center, which is similar to what the Warriors do with Draymond Green.
This could make things even easier for James depending on the matchup, as he could be able to blow by some of the slower centers in the NBA. It will be interesting to see how much of that we see, but James is no doubt one of the best creators in the NBA, regardless of the position he is playing.
