The Los Angeles Lakers begin training camp this week. Here are four training camp battles to keep your eye on.

The Los Angeles Lakers had their 2018 Media Day on Monday. With that, the 2018-19 season officially kicks off.

The Lakers will draw plenty of attention in the coming months. If you hadn’t noticed, the best player in the NBA, LeBron James, now wears the purple and gold. James isn’t the only veteran that was signed, as JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo and Michael Beasley were also signed. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was the only free agent that the organization retained.

Combined with their young core of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and Ivica Zubac, Los Angeles will be discussed throughout training camp and in the regular season.

With so many new faces, there will be plenty to watch for in the coming weeks. Training camp and the preseason will be important for the team to build chemistry and cohesion.

Los Angeles has quickly become a trendy pick to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals. They have a long way to go before they can supplant the Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets, but with James in town, anything is possible.

There aren’t many teams in the NBA that have better depth on paper than the Lakers. With that depth, plenty of questions will arise. Luke Walton is going to have his hands full deciding who to give minutes to and which combination of players to use.

Training camp will give us an answer to some of those questions. These four training camp battles are what people will be keeping their eyes on in the coming weeks.
