Recent Lakers rumors are that Lonzo Ball will not be in the lineup for the third straight preseason game.

With the start of the regular season right around the corner, recent Lakers rumors have been about when we will see Lonzo Ball step on the court.

Ball underwent knee surgery over the summer, and after missing a good amount of time last season, the Lakers are certainly being careful with their young point guard. The good news is that Ball appears to be really close to returning, and playing in the preseason seems likely at this point.

After two games against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers will be facing the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. Unfortunately, according to Brad Turner, this will not be Ball’s preseason debut.

As the Lakers continue to be cautious with Ball, they will be looking for their first preseason win against the Kings. While the Lakers did lose their last game to the Nuggets, what will be their normal starters and rotation players played very well. However, the team did end up giving up the lead in the 4th quarter, and the game resulted in a two-point loss.

After Thursday’s game against the Kings, the Lakers’ next matchup will be against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. If Lonzo doesn’t make his return against the Clippers, he will have some extra time before the Lakers play the Warriors on the 10th.

Saturday certainly makes sense for Ball’s return against the Clippers, as he would be able to get some extra rest before their next game against the Warriors.  With three potential games left in the preseason for Ball to play in, it would certainly be nice to see him play in at least two of them before the start of the regular season.

With all of the changes to the roster this offseason, getting Ball out there with his new teammates would be good. However, Ball’s health should continue to be the top priority.
