The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors face off tonight. Here are some things to watch for in the Lakers’ fifth preseason game.

The Los Angeles Lakers preseason goes to another level tonight! The Lakers play the World Champion Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas in the biggest preseason game in NBA history! Okay, that might be a stretch, but it might be the most hyped preseason game in history.

The Los Angeles Lakers bring their star duo in LeBron James and Lonzo Ball, who is playing his first game in seemingly forever coming off a knee injury against NBA’s marquee duo in the Splash Brothers.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson team up with some guy named Kevin Durant and roll out the ball to play at 10:30 pm est. Who says Jimmy Butler owns the headlines…

By the way…

Anyway…here’s what Lakers fans need to look out for during the game…

How long will LeBron James play?

Throughout the preseason, the only reason that I even discussed it was because every Lakers fan will ask. Also, I’m getting in the habit of placing sports betting in the equation so I would talk about it. Vegas will probably even weigh in on his minutes. TONIGHT IS DIFFERENT! So Lakers fans, here we go…

Up until this point, the Los Angeles Lakers have put together a routine for LeBron James and his minutes throughout the preseason. The magic number has been around 15 minutes for all the games he has played (He sat out the Clippers game for rest.) I’ve been saying that if LeBron James plays more than 20 minutes, somebody needs to be fired. Tonight Lakers fans AGAIN, things might be different.

With Lonzo Ball in the lineup (more on that later), I see maybe the ante being raised to about 20-25 minutes. I think James wants to play a little catch-up and get a level of cohesion with Ball and get him ready for the regular season which starts next week.

BUT….

LeBron James needs to be healthy. No sprained ankles, no hamstring pulls.

Give him enough floor time to let the paying fans get a chance to see this…

…and this…

…end it like this…

Then sit his behind down! I’ll say it again…one ankle turn or hamstring pull and the Lakers are one step to the lottery. They need James healthy for October…That’s it, end of story. Moving on.
