2. Will the backcourt score?

This will be very interesting considering Rajon Rondo and Lonzo Ball will be playing. The major question going into this game is…how will Lonzo Ball fit into the scheme of positionless basketball that Luke Walton is trying to implement?

On social media, all you see is pictures of Ball and LeBron in practice.

Now the spotlight will definitely be on the two players to see if this will transfer on the court. The major thing the Lakers are going to have to do is score in the backcourt.

I want to bring up a quote from an earlier preview…

"This is an extremely important area of emphasis. Eventually, teams are going to pack it in the paint and demand Rondo (and eventually Ball) to consistently hit the jumper during the season. That’s the NBA folks. Whatever this positionless basketball the Lakers are selling will not work if everyone is not contributing on the offensive end. Good teams will isolate these guys and take advantage if they don’t look at the basket. The backcourt has to look for their offense and not look to LeBron James for everything."

WATCH FOR THIS!

The Lakers have only won one preseason game this season. They won when they got contributions from the backcourt. In their lone victory, they got 60 points. In the loss to the Clippers, the Lakers only got 30 points.

To put this in perspective, former Lakers player Lou Williams dropped 18 by himself. I’m going on record to say both Splash Brothers can easily pass that total. Rondo, Ball, KCP and Stephenson had better score collectively…A LOT!!!

If Rondo just worries about running the offense without looking at the basket (Three shots or less..) the Warriors will send a limo for him and Ball daring them to shoot while they pack the paint on LeBron James and Brandon Ingram.
