Recent Lakers rumors are about them being named as a potential landing spot for Anthony Davis.

With the start of the regular season almost here, Lakers rumors are always swirling about what move could be next for the team. Since the Lakers never added another star to go alongside LeBron James this offseason, speculation of who will be added will likely continue until it happens.

This offseason, much of the speculation on the trade front was surrounding Kawhi Leonard. With a steep asking price, the Lakers never appeared to be close to making a deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

After using the waive-and-stretch provisional on Luol Deng, the Lakers have a max contract spot open for next offseason. Due to having the cap space, they will likely try to pursue a free agent before making any trades that would cost them young assets.

However, one player that seems to be the next potential star to be traded is Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans. Recently, Jay King of the Athletic spoke about potential landing spots down the road for Davis. Here’s what he said with text via Bleacher Report.

"According to The Athletic’s Jay King, “Several league sources have said they believe Davis could end up either with the [Boston] Celtics or Lakers if the Pelicans were to move him.”"

While the Pelicans are going to certainly take a wait and see approach when it comes to trading Davis, a poor season in New Orleans could result in them looking to move one of the top players in the NBA.

From a Lakers standpoint, adding a player like Davis would be great for the franchise. Davis is able to do pretty much everything on the offensive end as a big man, and is also a great defensive player.

However, trading for a player the caliber of Davis does not come cheap. Acquiring Davis would likely cost the Lakers draft picks and young assets, which is something they have wisely be reluctant to give away in recent years. While nothing is imminent regarding a possible Davis trade, he will be a name to keep an eye on if the Pelicans struggle this coming season.
