The Los Angeles Lakers could use some help up front and in the 3-point shooting department. Here are five role players the team should consider trading for.

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled to begin the 2018-19 season. As we’ve seen through the few first games this season – even with the best player in the league, the Lakers are still far away from the championship level team we all want them to be.

The defense has been dreadful, the offense has stagnated far too often, and the chemistry issues have been evident. While chemistry issues won’t be fixed by more roster movement, the other issues can certainly be addressed. Besides, what’s more fun than playing the general manager?

The Lakers intend to be competitive the season, but we know that management already has their eyes set on 2019 free agency where they hope to add a co-star for LeBron James. The desire to keep open cap space, along with the market devoid of any stars probably will keep the Laker’s from making any big-name trades this year.

Jimmy Butler didn’t list the Lakers in his preferred destinations list. Charlotte Hornet’s management still has no clue what they’re doing with Kemba Walker. Despite The King’s wishes, Dame Lillard isn’t coming. He’s the heart and soul of that Portland Trail Blazers squad, and the Blazers would want much more in return than what LA would be willing to give up.

So where could the Lakers turn? Let’s take a look at some players who are actually attainable, and would help the Laker’s playoff push come spring. These are five role players Los Angeles should consider trading for.
