Los Angeles Lakers: Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo not traveling with team
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo, and forward Brandon Ingram, won’t be traveling with the team to begin their four-game road trip.
The Los Angeles Lakers (knock on wood) have been relatively healthy this season. The only players to miss extended periods of time thus far this season have been Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram.
The first time those players missed games was because of their roles in the fight with the Houston Rockets early in the season. Rondo received a three-game suspension, while Ingram was suspended for four games.
Those two are the only rotation players thus far to miss any games. Since the suspensions, they have missed even more games.
Rondo fractured his hand Nov. 14 against the Portland Trail Blazers and hasn’t been on the court since. On Dec. 5, Ingram injured his ankle against the San Antonio Spurs when LaMarcus Aldridge stepped underneath him when rising up for a jump shot.
Now, we have some updates on their statuses. Unfortunately, they aren’t the most positive of updates.
Rondo will not be accompanying the team on the upcoming four-game road trip. He will see a hand specialist on Thursday.
Rajon Rondo is also not traveling with the team to Houston. He will see a hand specialist Thursday and the next steps will be determined at that point.

What those next steps include is unknown at this time. However, it looks like Rondo will be out for the duration of the trip that begins Thursday night against the Houston Rockets.
The next time the Lakers will be playing at home is Dec. 21 against the New Orleans Pelicans, so that is likely the earliest we will see Rondo back on the court.
Mike Bresnahan also provided an update on Ingram’s injury. Like Rondo, Ingram will not be traveling with the team to Houston and he will be re-evaluated on Saturday night.

If Ingram’s knee feels better, there’s a change he meets up with the team later that day in Charlotte, Luke Walton said.
Bresnahan corrected himself later, saying it is indeed the ankle that is keeping Ingram out, not a new knee injury. That would be excellent if Ingram was able to join the team in the middle of the road trip.
Ingram was expected to be out at least a week before being re-evaluated. Dec. 13 marks a week for Ingram since the injury. Hopefully, the injury has not gotten any worse and he can return to the court sooner than later.

Following the game against the Rockets on Thursday and Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, the Lakers will wrap things up Sunday against the Washington Wizards and then Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets.
