Los Angeles Lakers: Player Rankings through the first half of the season (41 Games)
The Los Angeles Lakers have been going through a rough stretch of basketball over the last ten games and it seems like almost every player on the team has either been injured or played poorly, which makes these rankings really difficult.
In order to rank each of the Los Angeles Lakers players fairly and accurately, I’m going to use six different metrics.
First, I’ll show everyone’s per game traditional stats such as points, rebounds, assists, steals, FG%, and 3P%. I’ll also use www.basketball-reference.com’s Value Over Replacement Player (VORP) and Win Shares (WS) because these two advanced stats indicate a player’s overall impact throughout the season.
Two stats from www.nba.com will also be used to construct the rankings: Offensive Rating (OFFRTG) and Defensive Rating (DEFRTG) over the last ten games, to illustrate which Lakers players have been playing well recently.
Finally, I use a non-advanced stat called My Own Eye Test (MOET) because stats aren’t the only viable way to show a player’s worth. For My Own Eye Test, I’ll rank each player on a scale from 1-10. A score of one means you’ve played so bad recently that when I watch you I want to break my TV. Ten means you’ve played so well of late, that when I watch you, I want to scream for joy.
Every player’s stats are true through the first 41 games of the season, or in other words the first half of the season.
I’m only going to rank Lakers players who’ve played over 150 minutes total for the season, and who’ve averaged at least 15 minutes per game over the last 10 contests. That leaves off Isaac Bonga, Moritz Wagner, Alex Caruso, Michael Beasley, and Johnathon Williams.
With that said, here we go!
