With the recent struggles of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kyle Kuzma recently talked about the importance of winning every game.
After a strong start to the season, the Los Angeles Lakers have fallen on tough times without LeBron James. Since James was injured on Christmas, the Lakers have a record of 5-10, and have fallen out of the playoff picture.
While the Lakers have dealt with a lot of injuries this season, they are still in the playoff hunt. Unfortunately, James is still out for the Lakers, but they did recently get Rajon Rondo back. Like James, Rondo has been out since Christmas, and having him back is certainly a welcomed sign.
As we get closer to the All-Star Break, the Lakers need to start picking up some wins to keep pace in the very challenging Western Conference. Recently, Kyle Kuzma talked about the urgency for the Lakers as the season rolls on and the Lakers fall in the standings. Here’s what he had to say to Matt Borelli of LakersNation.com.
"“We’re fighting to be in the playoffs, fighting for seeding, and the season is ticking down. We’ve got less than 40 games right now. Everything has to be serious right now. Every game matters, every possession, every second.”"
Kuzma is absolutely right that the Lakers need to play with some urgency. The Western Conference is loaded top to bottom, and wins do not come easy. As of now, the Lakers are currently two games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth seed. With a lot of games left to play, reaching them is certainly possible. However, they have a lot of competition from below them in the standings.
On Sunday, the Lakers will be facing the Phoenix Suns. With a very tough schedule coming up before the All-Star Break, the Lakers could really use a win against the Suns. Like the Lakers, the Suns are banged up and not playing well.
With games coming up against the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Golden State Warriors, the game against the Suns has somewhat of a must-win feel. Hopefully, the Lakers come out strong and get a much-needed win.
