Recent Lakers rumors are that Kyrie Irving has a real interest in playing with LeBron James once again.

Over the past few days, there have been a ton of Lakers rumors. With the NBA Trade Deadline right around the corner, we knew this time period would be crazy for the Lakers.

On Monday, it was reported that Anthony Davis informed the New Orleans Pelicans that he would not be signing a contract extension with them and wanted to be traded to a contender. As a team that desires another star, the Lakers have been linked already to Davis.

While we will have to wait and see what happens with Davis before the trade deadline, another player might be interested in coming to the Lakers. According to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, Kyrie Irving is interested in playing with LeBron James once again.

"A source close to the Celtics confirmed that Kyrie Irving is genuinely interested in reuniting with his former Cavaliers teammate. “That is for real,” the source said."

Irving reportedly wanting to play with James again is certainly notable. Irving and James defeated the Golden State Warriors together, but Irving eventually wanted to move on an make a name on his own.

While the Boston Celtics did reach the Eastern Conference Finals last season, Irving missed the playoff run for the Celtics. As a free agent at the end of the season, Irving might be really interested in joining the Lakers if they have both James and Davis. That would create a trio that could certainly compete with the Golden State Warriors, even if Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson both stay.

The Pelicans have stated that they won’t rush to trade Davis before the trade deadline this season, as he is still under contract through next season. Making a big deal like moving Davis is certainly something Pelicans don’t want to rush, but their potential return could drop over the summer.
