– Creates a dynamic duo

Over the past few years, the Western Conference has been loaded. The Golden State Warriors have emerged as a dynasty coming out of the West. With three titles in the last four years, the Warriors have set the bar very high in the West.

Last season, we saw the Houston Rockets take a good shot at the Warriors with their duo of James Harden and Chris Paul. If not for Paul getting injured in the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors might have been dethroned last season.

If the Lakers were able to land Davis, they would have arguably two of the five best players in basketball with James and Davis. With no disrespect to Harden and Paul, the combination of James and Davis is a better one. This would be a frightening combination to try and guard, as Davis’ versatility would fit very well next to James on paper.

Even though the Lakers wouldn’t have an All-Star starting five like the Warriors, they would have a duo that could challenge them. While the Warriors likely improved from last season with the addition of DeMarcus Cousins, they did show a little chink in the armor last season. Perhaps, a combination of James and Davis could be what topples them in the West.
