What could a Los Angeles Lakers trade offer to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis look like? We take a look and give an example of a potential trade package.

Anthony Davis’s agent, Rich Paul just informed the Pelicans that Davis would like to be traded, with the Los Angeles Lakers atop his wish list.

Most Lakers fans would be ecstatic if Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka were able to land Davis before the trade deadline, but the Purple and Gold need to be careful not to give away too much in the deal.

Here’s a trade idea that would help the Pelicans rebuild, but wouldn’t cost the Lakers all of their young talents.

The Lakers trade Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Ivica Zubac, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, their 2019 1st round pick and their 2021 1st round pick to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis.

From the Pelicans perspective, they’d be getting three young players in Ingram, Hart, and Zubac who could all be starters for them moving forward. The Pelicans would also finish the season with one of the worst records in the NBA and could potentially land Zion or another potential superstar in the draft.

This trade isn’t ideal for the Pelicans, but it’s the best they can do before the trade deadline.  There is some pressure on New Orleans to make a deal before February 7th, because if they wait until the summer to make a trade, Davis could announce that he’ll only sign a long term contract with the Lakers, which would destroy his trade value to the rest of the NBA.

From the Lakers perspective, this trade is a dream scenario. After the trade, the Lakers would be able to run out a starting lineup of Rajon Rondo, Lonzo Ball, LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma, and Davis. This deal would make the Lakers the 2nd best team in the West.

Here’s one final thought for all of the cynics out there who think the Pelicans will never make this trade:

There’s a reason Davis fired his previous agent and signed on with LeBron’s good friend, Rich Paul. All most everyone who’s been around the Pelicans believes it’s because “The Brow” only wants to play with LeBron in LA.

If New Orleans gets the feeling that Davis will sabotage any deal they try to make with another team, like Boston for instance, they might have to pull the trigger on a deal with the Lakers in the next week.
