Recent Lakers rumors are that the New Orleans Pelicans have yet to reach out after the latest offer from Los Angeles for Anthony Davis.

With the trade deadline less than 24 hours away, there are still plenty of Lakers rumors leading up to the deadline. As we get closer to the trade deadline, it is starting to seem unlikely that the Lakers will be making any sort of big deal.

When it was announced that Anthony Davis wanted out of New Orleans, it felt like the Lakers had a strong chance to acquire him. With a lot of young assets and Davis’ willingness to commit long-term to the Lakers, the two sides made sense for each other.

However, the Pelicans have had some really high trade demands for Davis, and it’s starting to look unlikely that a deal will be done. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers aren’t optimistic that the Pelicans will make a counteroffer to their trade proposal.

The Lakers certainly made a worthy offer for Davis, but it appears like the Pelicans aren’t willing to deal Davis to the Lakers. Since Davis made it known that he wouldn’t mind playing for the Lakers, the Pelicans really made their trade demands ridiculous.

While things can change, it doesn’t seem like Davis will be coming to the Lakers before the trade deadline. For the Lakers, this could be a blessing, as the asking price for Davis was simply through the roof.

Even though Davis is a great player, the price as of now for him is just too high. The Pelicans don’t have a realistic asking price for Davis as of now, and not getting a deal done before the trade deadline will only weaken what they get in return for him.

With the trade deadline almost here, we will have to see if the Pelicans engage the Lakers in trade talks. However, as of now, it doesn’t look like a deal will be done.
