3. Los Angeles (not just the Lakers, the whole city) Needed This Win

For those of you who are unaware, the Los Angeles Rams just lost the Super Bowl last Sunday to none other the New England Patriots. I’m sure you saw that some of the Pats, including head coach Bill Belichick, were at the game last night.

Rewind four months and we’re in the World Series where the Los Angeles Dodgers were obliterated by the Boston Red Sox in 5 games. Now to add to that hurt, the Lakers have not been playing well.

The city of Los Angeles has not been in a good place in regards to sports. For this team to go into Boston, to the franchise we despise more than anything else, hearing BEAT LA chants as loud as they could scream, with Pats players sitting courtside watching, in the city that has beaten LA twice in sports championships in the last four months AND come back from 18 to win this game against a legitimately better team, regular season game or not, is nothing short of a miracle.

There should be a movie made out of this. Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself. But we needed this. This was our own way of avenging the losses our fellow Los Angeles sports teams won’t have the chance to do for another year. Hopefully, the Lakers can use this as fuel for the next 27 games to get back to the playoffs where we know they belong.
