ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was at Staples Center taking in the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers game on Thursday night. The outcome was not what he predicted.

The Los Angeles Lakers picked up an impressive victory over the Houston Rockets out of the All-Star break. It was a win that many people were surprised by, specifically one ESPN analyst.

The extremely opinionated ESPN host Stephen A. Smith, who I enjoy a little more on the radio, decided to make a way-too-early prediction about the outcome of the game on Thursday night.

He and others tend to Tweet out predictions to get fans to interact with them, and to get attention. Here is what the self-proclaimed NBA Guru had Tweeted out:

Fans snapped back at him saying things like if he predicts the Lakers will lose they will probably win, asking him if he ever gets anything right, as well as many telling him his Tweet did not age well.

We are sure Mr. Smith is regretting that prediction as the Lakers came back in the fourth quarter and beat the crap out of the Houston Rockets, literally.

Fans must go to Twitter to check out the 980+ replies including many hilarious GIF rebuttals to his way-too-early prediction.

I am so confused sometimes when it comes to Mr. Smith. Yes, he is a staunch New York Knicks fan and has been very critical of the team’s front office over recent years.

But, is he a LeBron fan? Or is he just a Lakers hater? One could walk away from his prediction that he is neither, and believes in neither the Lakers front office or their star LeBron James.

So, now that the Lakers won the game, and proved Smith wrong, Smith explains that the win was an aberration. He argued that Kevin Durant plays defense and LeBron James needs to play defense to win. That KD is a deciding factor and would have been on any team to get an NBA Championship.

Smith is not hot on Rajon Rondo either, and we know Rondo doesn’t care much for Smith. Here are Smith’s Monday Morning QB postgame comments:

Now that James has “activated” playoff mode, the Lakers beat Houston on made free throws, and Brandon Ingram is stepping up his intensity scoring 27 points against the Rockets.

Mike Rappaport felt that Luke Walton should get credit when the team wins, and I agree. The Lakers and Luke Walton and staff have the opportunity to prove Smith wrong and I for one cannot wait to rub it in his face.
