After another awful loss, the Los Angeles Lakers need to start to show a sense of urgency.

Coming into Saturday night, many were expecting a somewhat comfortable win for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers were coming off an impressive victory over the Houston Rockets earlier in the week, and things were looking up. However, what has been the case with the Lakers recently, they disappointed on Saturday.

Without Anthony Davis in the lineup, the Pelicans were able to score 128 points en route to a comfortable win over the Lakers. While the Lakers did shoot the ball well, they didn’t play any defense, and they turned the ball over 23 times.

While the Pelicans aren’t a very good team, especially without Davis, these are still NBA players. Giving them open looks and extra opportunities is going to result in them scoring points.

Losses like this one to the Pelicans have become all too familiar to the Lakers. Throughout the season, the Lakers have had disappointing performances against some of the worst teams in the league. With losses to the Knicks, Cavaliers, and Hawks, we won’t have to look hard to find out why the Lakers missed the playoffs by a few games if that ends up being the case.

Even though Lonzo Ball is out, the Lakers are pretty healthy otherwise and there was no excuse for what we saw against the Pelicans. After the loss, there are just 23 games left in the season and time is running out on the Lakers.

As of now, the Lakers are only 4 games back of the sixth spot in the Western Conference. A win over the Pelicans would have really been a good momentum builder, as they could have started a little winning streak.

Now, the Lakers will be playing the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday and then the Pelicans on Wednesday once again. These are two games that the Lakers must have, as the schedule in the second half is not easy.

With just 23 games left in the regular season, the time has come to show some urgency in Los Angeles. If they don’t, pack your bags for Cancun.
