Lakers fans…The Lakers were right in letting Lopez go!

The Los Angeles Lakers were clearing cap space last offseason for the max free agents they wanted to sign. One of the casualties was Brook Lopez. Fans, to this day, question the move and place letting him go near the top of the list.

Even Brook Lopez was surprised and said so earlier this year on The Lowe Podcast…

"Lowe: Were you surprised they didn’t come after you harder or maybe they did and you just decided, I mean it’s kind of a circus there with LeBron in Los Angeles, it’s like a perfect storm of drama. Did you just not want any part of it? What was your perspective on the move from LA to Milwaukee. Lopez: I was a little surprised. It just didn’t end up working out. It kind of went in one direction pretty quickly. From that point, I was looking at other options. Lowe: Would you have wanted to play there or do you prefer this, obviously you have a great team, I think a better team than the Lakers, but it’s quieter here, let’s put it that way Lopez: Yeah, I mean, I would have wanted to play there. But that being said, I’m happy that this worked out the way it did because it’s the best situation possible. Even comparable to playing there this season. Far and away, this season in Milwaukee has gone so well and just, the group we have here, the players, the staff and the opportunity to do some big things, it’s such a great situation to be in."

It worked out for the Lakers too. Believe me. Luke Walton put LeBron James on him and he was rendered close to useless for the Bucks. Sure he scored 11 points but there is no reason why a player as big as Lopez did not dominate the Lakers down low. He played very softly and LeBron James and Brandon Ingram had layup lines going at Lopez.

Let me show you everyone’s favorite run at Lopez.

Brook Lopez would not have worked out folks. He is too slow footed and does not fit with the fast-paced style that the Lakers want to play. Plus, he is not a strong rim protector that the Lakers desperately need these days. His shot blocking comes from the weak side. Obviously, you’ve seen his efforts from the strong side thanks to Brandon Ingram.

Speaking of Brandon Ingram…
