The Los Angeles Lakers season is all but over. Here are three reasons why they should go into tank mode.

Despite a lot of hype coming into the season, the Los Angeles Lakers are not going to be making the playoffs this season. There are a lot of reasons why the Lakers won’t reach the playoffs, but that drought will continue for at least one more season.

In the NBA, the margin is very slim between being a playoff team and being in the NBA Lottery. As of now, the Lakers are far behind in the chase for the final spot in the West, and unless they are going to go on a ridiculous run, they will fall short.

Now, with the playoffs being a wild dream, the Lakers have some decisions to make. One of the great debates among fans is about whether the team should try to win games or tank for a better draft pick.

For the Lakers, this season has been a failure. However, missing the playoffs does come an opportunity to get another young player in the NBA Draft. The Lakers have done a very nice job in the NBA Draft in recent years, and getting another high pick could be a valuable asset.

While the Lakers likely won’t be in the race for the first pick, they could move closer to that by going into tank mode. Losing games isn’t fun for fans that paid money to see games that they thought would be competitive and meaningful this season. However, a few more wins this season really would do the Lakers no good.

Here are three reasons why the Lakers should embrace the tank for the rest of the season.
