Here are five Doomsday scenarios for the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason.

So much went wrong for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. Numerous injuries to key players, failed trade attempts and poor team chemistry doomed them throughout. Surely, one would believe that it cannot get worse right?

Well, there is a chance that things do not go according to plan and the Lakers are once again put in a bad position. Here are five doomsday scenarios that would further put the Lakers behind the eight ball.

5. Lakers don’t land a good head coach after firing Luke Walton and hire Mark Jackson

At this moment in time, there are no stand out candidates to take the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching position should Luke Walton be fired.

Tyronn Lue, right now, would probably be the best choice if the season ended today. He is solid, has championship experience, won a ring with LeBron James and would bring a brand of basketball that is more suitable to LeBron’s style of play.

However, there have been numerous names thrown out into the rumor mill that would give cause for alarm, but the most alarming name rumored to be in play for the Lakers is Mark Jackson.

Jackson, who has been out of the NBA since 2014, was the Golden State Warriors head coach from 2011-2014. He was a good babysitter for the Golden State Warriors, leading them to a 51-31 season in his final year as head coach. But, they truly progressed to the next level with Steve Kerr at the helm, winning the Larry O’Brien Trophy in Kerr’s first season.

Jackson is most definitely not the guy to take the Lakers to the next level. He had two of the best shooters in NBA history on his team and could not get them to the Conference Finals.

It is telling that Mark Jackson has not coached an NBA team in five years. He has interviewed for numerous head coaching jobs over the years, most recently the New York Knicks job in 2018, but has yet to land with another team.

However, with Jackson part of the Klutch family, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that he could be considered for the position.
