The Los Angeles Lakers will need a miracle to make the postseason. This offseason will be an important one to get the organization back on track. Here are five steps to getting back into championship contention.
With the likelihood of the Los Angeles Lakers making the NBA playoffs dwindling away with each soul-crushing loss, eyes begin to focus on the summer of 2019 to solve what is currently ailing the Los Angeles Lakers.
With LeBron James joining the purple and gold, the expectations were reignited in Laker Land and hopes were high that the team could make the playoffs and potentially even steal a series or two with the roster as currently constructed. However, numerous injuries have crippled the Lakers at different parts of the season.
LeBron James went down with a groin strain, which robbed him of 17 consecutive games. In those games, the Lakers went 6-11. Lonzo Ball has been suffering from a Grade 3 ankle sprain that occurred whilst facing the Houston Rockets. He has been sidelined since with a bone bruise being found and he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The subsequent losses that have followed due to said injuries have left the Lakers playoff hopes as a dream, as they have less than a one percent chance of qualifying for the postseason.
While not a lot can be done to fix the situation now, the Lakers can plan for the offseason and focus on areas in which they can strengthen and grow as a team. Here are five areas in which the Los Angeles Lakers can improve in order to push towards Championship contention.
