Los Angeles Lakers: 4 Reasons to target Jimmy Butler in free agency

The Los Angeles Lakers should target Jimmy Butler in free agency this summer. Here are four reasons why.
Los Angeles Lakers fans have been dreaming for a while of landing Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard or Kyrie Irving this summer in free agency to complete their championship puzzle. But there’s another free agent that would help do so, even though he’s not one of the headliners in this year’s class.
Let’s be real, Laker Nation: this season has been a disaster. After standing at 20-14 after their Christmas Day beatdown of the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers have slowly crumbled into the abyss thanks to many key injuries and faulty leadership from one LeBron James.
However, there is a reason for hope, albeit a faint one, when it comes to the purple and gold’s hopes and aspirations of hanging up their 17th NBA world championship banner in the near future.

In Kyle Kuzma, they have a diamond in the rough who has stepped up his game the last three months after getting off to a modest start. Brandon Ingram, if he gets over his deep vein thrombosis, gives them an All-Star level player to build around or use as attractive trade bait, and Lonzo Ball, even with all his problems, brings a few definite assets to the team.
Everyone knows the Lakers need that second superstar (and a return to good health) in order to stake their claim towards championship contention as long as LeBron is still playing at an elite level, and there’s one player who could be their best option as that big piece they need to sign via free agency this summer: Jimmy Butler.
There are several reasons why.
