Los Angeles Lakers rumors have already begun popping up with the team no longer in the running for the postseason. Recent Lakers rumors involve some potential free agency plans.
The Lakers will be looking for a big man to compliment LeBron James in the offseason which most likely come in the form of DeMarcus Cousins or DeAndre Jordan.
On “The Hoop Collective” podcast, ESPN’s Tim McMahon addressed the possibility of the Lakers landing DeMarcus Cousins, saying, “That’s definitely a rumor out there. DeAndre Jordan, too.”
The rumors come in the midst of free agents withdrawing their interest in the Lakers most likely due to their losing season and the inescapable drama that comes with LeBron James.

So, if the Lakers do miss out on the likes of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and others, they will definitely look to a Demarcus Cousins or a DeAndre Jordan type player to improve the team.
Had the New York Knicks bought out DeAndre Jordan, the Lakers were said to have interest in the conservative center. As for Cousins, he hasn’t returned to full form yet after an Achilles injury but the Lakers will still look to add his presence down low.
The Lakers season went downhill quickly, so the team is already looking towards the summer where they will look to make a splash in free agency.
The current situation of the Purple and Gold may have affrighted potential superstar free agents with their level of play after the All-Star break, so the team may have to look at class-B free agents such as Cousins and Jordan.
LeBron James turns 35 years old next season, and the addition of Cousins or Jordan could help add some much-needed explosiveness down low. With James’ passing ability, he will be able to utilize both Cousins’ and Jordan’s ability to make plays in the paint and above the rim.
