Recent Lakers rumors are that the team might be interested in Jason Kidd if they decide to part ways with Luke Walton.

As the season comes to a close for the Los Angeles Lakers, recent Lakers rumors have been about who will potentially coach the Lakers next season. After a good start to the season, the Lakers have fallen apart due to numerous issues, and it appears like a certainty that Luke Walton will not be coaching this team next season.

While Walton did a good job filling in as a head coach for the Golden State Warriors a few years ago, he has not had a winning season with the rebuilding Lakers. In almost three seasons as the coach of the Lakers, Walton currently has a record of 92-144 for a .390 winning percentage.

As expected with a young team that was rebuilding, Walton’s record as a head coach is not good. However, this season with LeBron James, he was unable to get the Lakers into the playoffs and that will likely cost him his job.

Recently, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Jason Kidd could be a potential replacement if the Lakers do decide to get rid Walton.

Compared to Walton, Kidd does have a better coaching record. With the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, Kidd has a record of 183-190. Kidd has made the playoffs three times and has a record of 9-15.

While Kidd does have a better record as a head coach, it is hard to say that he would be much of an upgrade. The teams that Kidd coached, especially with the Brooklyn Nets were teams that were built to win.

More than likely, Walton and the Lakers will be parting ways after the season is over. Since Walton has appeared to have lost the team, the Lakers will be searching for a new head coach this summer. As of now, it appears like Kidd will be a candidate that they will be considering.
