Los Angeles Lakers will be able to make a strong pitch for free agents

With the goal being to get a second star, LeBron James believes that the Los Angeles Lakers will be able to do so.
While LeBron James’ first season with the Los Angeles Lakers did not go as planned, the Lakers are still in a good position moving forward. If injuries didn’t occur this season, especially to James, the Lakers likely would have made the playoffs.
Even though making the playoffs would have been very nice for the Lakers this season, they knew that they would be a bit limited without a second star next to James. During the season, the Lakers made a hard push to try and trade for Anthony Davis to save their season.
No deal with the New Orleans Pelicans ever happen, and the public trade rumors really hurt the team. While there will probably be more trade rumors over the summer, the Lakers do have the cap space available to sign a max player.
With LeBron James and a good core, the Lakers could really be a threat if they add another star in free agency. Recently, LeBron talked about the Lakers being a good destination for free agents because of their desire to win big. Here’s what he had to say via Corey Hansford of LakersNation.com
"“Listen, at the end of the day this franchise wants to win and wants to win big,” James noted. “The one thing about the franchise, they cater to the players and that’s it. Everything else comes secondary.“They only want us to go out and perform at a high level and play the game at a high level so we can be mentioned with some of the great teams in the league at that point in time.”"
Even though this season was a failure and there could be a new head coach next season, the Lakers are still in a good position to win. Staying healthy will be important next season as well, but the Lakers could be a very good team if they can convince a free agent to sign.

There is certainly a lot of pressure to play in Los Angeles and with LeBron, but those two things will present a player with a chance to win. After missing the playoffs once again this season, it will be an interesting summer in Los Angeles.
