Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve shooting guard Josh Hart, who will be sidelined 12 weeks after undergoing a procedure on his right knee.
Los Angeles Lakers rumors have been heating up. With only seven games remaining in the season, the organization’s offseason will begin in about two weeks.
Missing the playoffs for a franchise-record sixth consecutive year is not what many people expected. With the signing of LeBron James, the team’s timeline was moved up. While they didn’t look like championship contenders, being a playoff team seemed likely.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan. Injuries have derailed the team’s performance this season.
Every team deals with injuries throughout the grind of an NBA season. However, the Lakers did suffer a ton of injuries to important players.

James missed 17 consecutive games with a groin injury that he suffered on Christmas Day. Lonzo Ball injured his ankle on Jan. 19 against the Houston Rockets and never returned from to the court, being ruled out for the season. Brandon Ingram played in only 52 games this season, being ruled out for the season with Deep Venous Thrombosis.
Kyle Kuzma and JaVale McGee, two more rotation players also dealt with nagging injuries but were able to return to the court. The same cannot be said for their second-year shooting guard, Josh Hart.
Hart has been battling tendonitis in his right knee. It has limited him at times this season despite appearing in 67 games. His performance has dropped off considerably as a result.
Hart didn’t make a 3-pointer the whole month of February and shot 11-of-30 from distance in March. Overall, Hart shot 38.4 percent from the field in February and March.
Instead of attempting to battle through the injury any longer, Hart has opted to undergo a procedure to get things right. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Hart underwent a procedure on his right patellar tendon that will keep him from doing full activities for 12 weeks.
You have to give Hart some props for fighting through the injury to get on the court with his teammates, especially with how many injuries the team has suffered.
However, with the playoffs no longer a possibility, it makes sense to get the procedure done now so that he can get back on the court to work out this offseason as soon as possible.
