4. Became unappealing to free agents

The most damaging disappointment about the Lakers falling apart this season and missing the playoffs is that they became an appealing team for a superstar free agent to consider signing with.

Before this season, there were tons of rumors surrounding the Lakers with names like Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant. Now, rumor has it that these players are going to snub the Lakers this summer and sign elsewhere.

If the Lakers do miss out on big free agent names, it will most probably be because of how this season turned out. The team would then have to settle lower-class players like De’Andre Jordan or DeMarcus Cousins.

Nevertheless, it’s a horrible way to end the season especially considering how excited the Lakers fanbase was to bring in a superstar player this summer. For what it’s worth, the Lakers could get by with their young core and LeBron James rather than bring in a big-name free agent.

The Purple and Gold used to be an enticing destination for big-name superstar players, but the team has been spiraling downward since Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles in 2013 and have become unappealing to superstars.

To avoid missing on a superstar because of the disappointments of this season, the team will have to look as presentable as possible during the offseason.
