JaVale McGee

JaVale is quite possibly one of the most frustrating players to root for as a fan. The God-given talent is there, the freakish athleticism is plain to see and you can’t teach length like that.

JaVale, when locked in, is capable of being an elite rim protector, a formidable rim runner and a nightly highlight reel. He can also switch off for long periods of the game, get moody and be the Shaqtin the Fool MVP we have all gotten to know over the years.

McGee started the season on fire, paying back the confidence in which the Lakers had shown in him. Playing a career high in minutes and with a larger role than his previous one with the Golden State Warriors, JaVale was able to put up great numbers and was an early candidate for defensive player of the year.

However, the inconsistencies that have surrounded McGee’s career reared their head once more and a reported disagreement with head coach Luke Walton halted JaVale for a prolonged period of time.
