The Los Angeles Lakers are in a state of flux with the unexpected resignation of Magic Johnson. Here are three priorities for the team post-Magic Johnson.

The Los Angeles Lakers offseason has started with a colossal bang. With Earvin “Magic” Johnson on national television in what seemed like an impromptu press conference to the huddled masses of reporters who were unsure of what was occurring.

Magic Johnson stepped down from his lofty position as president of basketball operations. With the futures of general manager Rob Pelinka and head coach Luke Walton also firmly in the balance, the offseason for the Lakers couldn’t be any more precarious if they tried.

What is for sure is that the Lakers need to formulate a plan before the end of the playoffs. They cannot enter the offseason with no plans in place. Whoever is to take over has to have time to formulate a plan of attack in all aspects of the organization. A statement from the Los Angeles Lakers gives a small bit of insight into what the Lakers plan is moving forward

“As we begin the process of moving forward, we will work in a measured and methodical fashion to make the right moves for the future of our organization.

This, to an extent, is a sigh of relief for most fans of the Purple and Gold. With the quote seemingly hinting at potentially an outside hire for the first time since the Lakers brought Mike Brown in to be the head coach.

With so much hanging in the balance and with a lot at stake, here are three priorities the Lakers must take care of post-Magic Johnson.
