1. Does Jeanie Buss intend to hire a new President of Basketball Operations?

Ordinarily that would have been the very first step an owner would take, certainly before a coach is hired. But it appears that Jeanie is doing things in a different order.

If she does indeed hire someone for the position, will she insist that Pelinka is retained as GM? That would of course restrict who would take the job.

Conversely, will the new individual be allowed to can Pelinka and hire his own GM? Presumably an incoming operations head would have to concur about the coach that Pelinka hires (see below).

Right now, signs seem to indicate that no operations leader will be hired, which likely means that Pelinka will be the man running the franchise going forward, regardless of his job title.

Given Rob’s baggage, and the trail of enemies he has apparently made, is he capable of doing a good job? Pelinka says all the right things publicly, but is he truly the man best-suited to guide the proud Lakers ship back to championship status?
