Recent Lakers rumors are that the brass of the Los Angeles Lakers are going to meet with Monty Williams.

As the Los Angeles Lakers continue to look for their new head coach, there have been plenty of Lakers rumors surrounding the situation. So far, the Lakers have been going through the initial process of meeting potential candidates.

The Lakers have met with Jason Kidd, Tyronn Lue, and Monty Williams so far, and those three are the most likely candidates for the job. Lue is a former NBA Champion as a head coach, and has had two interviews with the Lakers. Due to his familiarity with LeBron James, some might think that he is the favorite.

However, one of the most-sought-after head coaches is Monty Williams. Williams is currently an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers, and has head coaching experience of his own. According to Bill Oram, the Lakers are sending a lot of their brass to meet with Monty Williams in Philadelphia.

This is certainly some noteworthy news and shows who the people making the decisions are for the Lakers. Without a president of basketball operations, the Lakers are relying heavily on Rob Pelina along with Kurt and Linda Rambis.

After the resignation of Magic Johnson, it appears like Jeanie Buss has put a lot of faith into both Kurt and Linda Rambis. Seeing Jesse being involved in this is certainly encouraging for the Lakers, as he has been praised for doing a good job for the Lakers’ scouting department.

While Williams looks like a good candidate for the Lakers, not having someone in place as the president who has more experience in coaching interviews is unfortunate. With all of these people flying out to Philadelphia, the Lakers’ interest in Williams is certainly strong.
