Recent Lakers rumors are that Juwan Howard reportedly had a good interview with the Los Angeles Lakers.
As the head coaching search for the Los Angeles Lakers continues to roll on, there have been plenty of Lakers rumors about who the next coach of the Lakers will be.
After the Lakers parted ways with Luke Walton, they quickly started the search for the next man to take the job. So far, the Lakers have interviewed a few notable names, but it has been Tyronn Lue and Monty Williams who appear to be the front-runners. Of coaches with prior experience, they have also interviewed Jason Kidd. However, it doesn’t seem like there is as much of an interest in Kidd.
One potential candidate that is flying under the radar a bit is Juwan Howard. Howard is currently an assistant with the Miami Heat and he has reportedly had a good interview with the Lakers. Here’s what Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times had to say.
"Miami assistant coach Juwan Howard also impressed the Lakers during his interview Tuesday at the practice facility in El Segundo, according to people with knowledge of the talks."
Seeing Howard doing well in his interview shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Even though he doesn’t have a ton of coaching experience yet, Howard is a good basketball mind, and the coaching staff of the Heat is well-respected.
However, for the Lakers, they might want someone with some more experience than Howard to be their next head coach. Considering it didn’t work out well with Walton, who was considered to be an up-and-coming head coach at the time of his hire, the Lakers might look toward getting a more experienced coach.
With the coaching search continuing for the Lakers, there doesn’t seem to be a rush as of now. However, with a strong interview, it will be interesting to see where Howard falls into the mix. Lue and Williams should both be considered the front-runners, but Howard might be a dark horse.
