The Los Angeles Lakers will be participating in the second annual California Classic in Sacramento this summer.
When a team has as poor of a season as the Los Angeles Lakers there are very few positives to take away from it. One of those positives is a good draft pick.
With a surprise finish outside the of the top-eight in the Western Conference, the sixth straight year without a playoff appearance, the Lakers will have another lottery pick this season.
The draft has been very nice to the Lakers in recent years. Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball all being selected in the lottery. Larry Nance Jr., Jordan Clarkson, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart were players selected outside the lottery that have also played well in the purple and gold.
When the Lakers make these selections, fans are excited to see them get on the court for the first time. The first time we get to see them in games representing their new NBA teams are in the Summer League, which the Lakers will once again be participating in.

The tournament will take place prior to the Fourth of July holiday, as the Lakers will play on three consecutive days.
"Monday, July 1: Lakers vs. Heat (6 p.m. PT)Tuesday, July 2: Lakers vs. Warriors (6 p.m. PT)Wednesday, July 3: Lakers vs. Kings (2 p.m. PT)"
Last year, the Lakers lost all three games they played in during the California Classic. They gave up 88 points per game while averaging 79.3. Last year’s first-round pick, Moritz Wagner, led the team with 14.7 points per game in Sacramento.
According to the Lakers official website, Wagner and Isaac Bonga, one of the team’s second-round picks in 2018, are expected to participate in the games.
Fans will be excited to see the newest Lakers’ lottery pick in action and these games will be the first time to see him play. Los Angeles has slim odds to land the top pick, but as long as they are in the lottery, they will have an opportunity to add an intriguing, young, talented player to their roster.
You can purchase tickets to the California Classic here. Following that tournament, the Lakers will be heading to Las Vegas to take part in the Las Vegas Summer League that runs from July 5th through July 15th.
