Recent Lakers rumors are that they are planning on offering Tyronn Lue the head coaching job.

There have been a lot of Lakers rumors surrounding the franchise as they look for their new head coach.

This offseason has been a busy one for the Lakers, as they are operating without a president of basketball operations. While there isn’t a person in place for the Lakers in that role, they have been conducting their head coaching interviews with numerous people that Jeanie Buss has entrusted.

Of the people that interviewed, it became clear rather quickly that Tyronn Lue and Monty Williams were the two front-runners. However, recent reports are that Monty Williams has accepted the job with the Phoniex Suns, and will be taking it the job after the Philadelphia 76ers are done with their playoff run.

With Williams reportedly taking the job in Phoenix, the Lakers appear like they will be moving forward with Tyronn Lue as their guy.

While many wanted Williams to be the next head coach of the Lakers, Lue will provide the Lakers will and experienced head coach. Lue was able to win an NBA Title with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. His prior relationship with James certainly played in his favor here, as coaching a superstar can be a challenge.

Since Lue is currently not coaching, there shouldn’t be too much of a wait to get him signed.

With a big offseason coming up for the Lakers, Lue will likely be a big part of the recruiting pitches for potential free agents. The Lakers have the cap space to sign another star, and the hope will be that those stars want to play for Lue.

For Lue, he should be prepared for some high expectations in Los Angeles. Due to his time with James in Cleveland, the pressure of having high expectations should not bother him.
