After the Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with Luke Walton, there was a lot of speculation to who would be the next head coach of the team.
During the interview process, the Lakers had interviews with Tyronn Lue, Jason Kidd, Monty Williams, and Juwan Howard. Of the four, it appeared as if the two clear front-runners were Monty Williams and Lue.
For the Lakers, it looks like Lue will be their man, as Williams has agreed to become the coach of the Phoenix Suns. While some aren’t thrilled with the Lue hire, he has easily been the most successful of the coaches that were interviewed.
While having LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers certainly helped Lue achieve success, Lue also played a part in that success. With it being expected that Lue will be the next coach of the Lakers, he will be met with a lot of expectations.
Since the Lakers fell short of making the playoffs this season, that will certainly be a goal for next season. However, with James and potentially another star via free agency, making the playoffs might not be enough for the Lakers.
While making the playoffs will be the first goal, the next for the Lakers will certainly be to make the NBA Finals once again. Signing James last summer wasn’t just to make the playoffs, it was to win a championship. Here are three reasons Lue can help the Lakers reach that goal.
