Recent Lakers Rumors are that Tyronn Lue and the Los Angeles Lakers have ended talks about a potential coaching job.
Recent Lakers rumors are that it doesn’t look like their won’t be a LeBron-Lue reunion any time soon. It seemed as though the Lakers and Tyronn Lue were close to reaching an agreement after Ty Lue was pictured with a Lakers-themed birthday cake over the weekend.
According to Brad Turner, Lue and his representatives declined an offer from LA, worth $18M for a total of three years.
The Lakers now have a couple of more options to look at. Frank Vogel, Tom Thibodeau, Jason Kidd, or someone that has not been mentioned in these rumors, such as Mark Jackson or Stan Van Gundy.
According to Nick Wright, the Buss family and Rob Pelinka signed off on hiring Tyronn Lue. However, Kurt and Linda Rambis were opposed to signing Lue and were able to convince the Lakers to hold off.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kurt Rambis is playing a significant role in the coaching search. He has emerged as a powerful voice in basketball operations.
Who should the Lakers pursue?
The coach, the Lakers, should pursue is Jason Kidd. While Kidd did not do a great job with the Bucks, he will be a great mentor for Lonzo Ball, and he will play Lonzo Ball more effectively than Luke Walton.
Kidd had a similar play style to Lonzo Ball, and it could be a perfect way for Lonzo to develop his game. Not to mention, Lonzo will get more of a chance to prove himself. He will likely get more play time when the game is on the line as well.
This will also mean a better game plan, something the Lakers didn’t have last season. If Jason Kidd can get guys like Frank Vogel and Tom Thibodeau on his coaching staff, that would be an excellent start for the Lakers.
Although there are a couple of more options, Jason Kidd stands out the most, followed by Tom Thibodeau. As mentioned earlier, Kidd will help Lonzo develop his game, and let Lonzo get more play time, meaning, he will gain more experience, and confidence, knowing that his coach trusts him. Kidd is the man to sign for the Lakers.
