With the coaching situation being a mess for the Los Angeles Lakers, here are five college coaches they should pursue.

After the Los Angeles Lakers messed up the Tyronn Lue situation badly, they are now back to square one in their coaching search.

Just a few days ago, it looked like Lue was going to be the next coach of the Lakers. When Monty Williams agreed to become the new head coach of the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers stopped their coaching search and decided Lue was their man.

However, the Lakers offered a very lackluster contract for Lue, as the two sides weren’t close on a contract. Lue obviously felt disrespected by the three-year deal the Lakers offered, and he took himself out of the running.

This has been a  very embarrassing situation for the Lakers, and they are now restarting their coaching search. In terms of former NBA coaches and current NBA assistants, the coaching pool doesn’t look all that strong. The Lakers are clearly in need of a stable force on the bench, and they might be settling this offseason.

With the options not being stellar as of now, the Lakers would be wise to look at some of the elite coaches at the college level. There are many talented head coaches in college, and with the Lakers having LeBron James, it might be an interesting job for some of them. While some might not be interested, it can’t hurt the Lakers to call.

Since the head coaching search has been restarted, here are five college coaches that the Lakers should pursue.
