The Los Angeles Lakers have the fourth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft! Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business.
During all of the Anthony Davis trade saga with the Lakers, I had a lot of people coming up to me asking, is Anthony Davis worth it? Is he worth tearing apart the young core? Is he worth mortgaging the Lakers’ long term future? Is he the second superstar who can help the Lakers compete against the Warriors in the West?
Without hesitation my answer every single time was yes to all of the above. Players like Anthony Davis do not come on the market that often and even fewer times does that players specify the team in which they want to play for.
Were Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka wrong to leak the trade offer they made to the Pelicans during this whole process? With David Griffin now the vice president of basketball operations with the New Orleans Pelicans, this potentially offers the Lakers a clean slate in any and all talks with the Pelicans.
At this stage, low balling the Pelicans should not be an option with so much riding on this summer for not only for the Lakers but for LeBron James, Rob Pelinka and even Lakers owner Jeanie Buss.
