Jeff Van Gundy just has an opinion and it trended on Social media

Up until March 9th, nobody had ever even dreamed of carrying on a conversation about LeBron James being traded without being clowned.

Jeff Van Gundy had one statement in a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics that if the Lakers were presented an opportunity to trade LeBron James, it should be considered.

Now, look at this one minute and 34-second conversation. It trended on a Saturday night on Twitter. The conversation sparked enough controversy for the media to spin it in a million different ways. Based on his statements alone I considered the man a viable option as the Lakers next head coach! But the seed was planted at this point.

I mean, in theory, it does make sense. If the Lakers got an offer that they couldn’t refuse that would open options to getting a Kevin Durant or a Kawhi Leonard by getting rid of a soon to be a 17-year veteran that alienated his teammates, coach, and more importantly the fan base this past year, it needs to be considered. Would it guarantee Leonard and Durant playing in a Lakers uniform? No. But the chances would be a lot better.

Couple that with the rumored reports that Jeanie Buss was angry about how Rich Paul and Klutch Sports handled the trade saga surrounding Anthony Davis.

Ric Bucher’s article made major headlines.

"The subject of moving James, however, was contemplated by the Lakers, a team source said, weeks before Van Gundy aired it. When rumors engulfed the team at the February trade deadline that it was willing to trade anyone other than James to acquire All-Star forward Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans, James’ agent, Rich Paul, was widely accused of spreading those rumors because Davis is also one of his clients. Paul denied to B/R that he leaked the Lakers’ interest in Davis, but Buss suspected otherwise and was furious. The idea of terminating the franchise’s relationship with Paul by moving James at least crossed Buss’ mind, the team source said, and Paul was made aware of that. That prompted Paul to reach out to Buss to clear the air, and whatever ill will existed supposedly dissipated."

Now this offseason will be the tell-tale signs of how truthful these rumors are. It’s grown now into conversations that are impossible to believe.

Again, this will not happen but this type of conversation is part of the media vacuum that LeBron James controls and commands.
