Not too long ago, it looked like Tyronn Lue was going to be the guy for Los Angeles. However, the Lakers only offered Lue a three-year contract, which was something that Lue wasn’t interested in.

Vogel was originally being talked about as a potential assistant on Lue’s staff. However, when the Lakers restarted their head coaching search, he quickly became the best option for the job.

With the fallout from failing to land Lue being a real poor look for the franchise, Vogel is a pretty solid hire. He has had success as a head coach in the NBA, and will hopefully bring some stability to the franchise.

After failing to land Lue, the Lakers had to move quickly and make a good hire. While Vogel might not be a flashy name, he is a good head coach and should be a good hire for the Lakers.

Now, Vogel will be inheriting some high expectations in Los Angeles. After a disappointing season, the Lakers must make the playoffs next season, as they have missed it six straight seasons now.
