Recent Lakers rumors are the Phoenix Suns are not offering their lottery pick in exchange for Lonzo Ball.

With the 2019 NBA Draft quickly approaching, there are going to be plenty of Lakers rumors leading up until then and the start of free agency.

After a disappointing season, the Lakers’ roster will likely look a bit different next season. The Lakers have the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, which should translate into a good player. Also, they have the cap space necessary to sign a max level player in free agency.

However, with the offseason here, the Lakers could elect to reshape their roster by trading one or a few of the members of their young core. One of the players that have had his name frequently mentioned in trade rumors is Lonzo Ball.

Ball was the former second overall pick by the Lakers in 2017, but injuries have certainly limited what we have seen from him on the court the last two seasons. Despite that, Ball has shown the ability to be an elite defender, and also a great court general. While his shooting numbers are not good, Ball brings a lot to the Lakers.

Recently, there has been talk about the Suns being interested in Ball. However, according to John Gambadoro, the Suns are not interested in parting ways with the sixth overall pick.

The Suns have certainly been lacking at the point guard position the past few seasons, and it has been one of the reasons for their struggles. While Devin Booker is a great player, he isn’t a point guard. Having a distributor like Ball would fit nicely in Phoenix with Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Josh Jackson.

Since Ball is still a player with a lot of potential, any potential deal would have to bring back something good for the Lakers. The sixth overall pick is certainly a valuable trade asset for the Suns, and likely something that the Lakers would want in a deal for Ball. However, it doesn’t look like that trade piece is on the table, which will likely kill any potential deal.
